The Murray to the Mountains (M2M) intern training experience is unique. Our placement structure will give you the total experience in both rural and regional hospitals. Based in some of Victoria’s most beautiful locations such as Yarrawonga , Cobram, Mt Beauty, Falls Creek, Benalla, Bright & Mt Hotham, Numurkah and Nathalia, work with us to have the internship you want and your career needs met. The core medical and surgical rotations will be at Northeast Health Wangaratta and emergency medicine at Albury/Wodonga Health (Wodonga campus) and Northeast Health Wangaratta.
The M2M program provides the opportunity for career progression from undergraduate to GP or M2M experience is readily translated to metropolitan specialist practice.
The Murray to the Mountains (M2M) program will provide:

The aim of the M2M experience is for the interns to:
- Be the patients first contact and follow the patient through the initial presentation
- Have access to hands on medicine in a variety of settings – ambulatory, hospital and residential care
- Have core rotations of 10 weeks in surgery, medicine and emergency medicine in the Hume region
- Have the opportunity to work in rurally-based procedural general practice and small rural health services over 20 weeks
- Undertake parallel consulting
- Be exposed to sports medicine through working in the ski fields or water sports along the Murray River
- Participate in Grand Rounds, clinical review meetings and skills workshops

The Murray to the Mountains (M2M) program has an experienced Director of Clinical Training (DCT) to:
- Develop with you a coordinated intern training package that is multi-disciplinary across the various rural health services
- Provide a training package that assure the professional competence and confidence to undertake the PGY2 year
- Deliver an orientation that goes further than most
- Assure seamless transition between undergraduate to post graduate training
The outcomes of the M2M Program are for interns to:
- Have confidence in making a diagnosis and taking care of the patient
- Acquire procedural competence in a variety of areas
- Learn to take responsibility both as an individual and as part of a team
- Have a functional understanding of both general practice and health services and the inter-relationships
